8th November- Book Launch
Mary Moynihan’s digital book Women, War & Peace was launched yesterday evening, 8th of November, 2016 at the Mansion House, and opened by guest speaker Rebecca Moynihan, the Deputy Lord Mayor. It was an outstanding evening of story-telling introduced by producer Freda Manweiler and speakers included Mary Lawlor, who originally set up Front Line Defenders. As part of the project Smashing Times launched a short film Tell Them Our Names and a performance by actress Róisín Mc Atamney, and an anti-war poetry reading by Margaret Toomey. This year long project includes articles and research of 23 women’s stories from World War II – 8 from Ireland, 5 from Spain, 5 from Germany and 5 from Poland.
